The White House says Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a temporary ceasefire in Alyoshki, in Ukraine’s Kherson Region, starting on 29 October 2026 to allow humanitarian aid deliveries and the evacuation of civilians.
According to the White House, the agreement was brokered by US First Lady Melania Trump, who took part in talks with Russian and Ukrainian leaders.
US representatives will oversee the process, the statement said.
Alyoshki is located on the left bank of the Dnepr River, opposite Kherson, which is seized by Ukrainian forces. According to Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo, Ukrainian troops are remotely mining roads and attacking vehicles with drones to block supplies of food, fuel and medicines. They are also striking energy and communications infrastructure in an effort to create a severe humanitarian situation.
