Hundreds of thousands of Hindu devotees across India are thronging various temples to offer prayers to Lord Hanuman on the occasion of His birthday.
Addressing Hindu devotees on the occasion, which is also the 44th Foundation Day of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the party derives inspiration from Lord Hanumana to fight corruption, and for law and order.
"On the auspicious day of Hanuman Jayanti, I pray for His blessings to all. Today, India has been realizing the great powers like that of Bajrang Bali. India has emerged much stronger to face the ocean-like big challenges," Modi tweeted.
Videos of devotees standing in long queues at popular Hanuman temples of the cities holding sweets and flowers to offer while chanting mantras are doing the rounds on the internet.
Meanwhile, heavy security was put in place ahead of a religious procession in Delhi's Jahangirpuri area that was hit by communal violence during the festival last year.
The federal Home Ministry has asked all states to ensure law and order during Hanuman Jayanti and closely monitor any factor that could disturb peace and harmony in society.
