Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has said that his country is ready to join the BRICS grouping to participate in building a multipolar world during an interview with Lebanon TV.
"After joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation [SCO], we have decided to apply to join the BRICS and are preparing to join this group of countries," noted the Iranian politician. "We condemn the unipolar world order that allows the United States and three or four other countries to consider themselves world rulers."
According to Raisi, Iran has benefited from its membership in the SCO, thanks to the good relationship it enjoys with Russia and China, which has opened the path to international markets despite sanctions.
Raisi pointed out that the United States sought to isolate Iran and prevent its participation in the SCO, but claimed that Washington's attempts failed.
"We extend our hand of friendship to any country that wishes to cooperate with us," emphasized Raisi. "Iran seeks constructive relations with all states based on common interests."
