The administration of US President Joe Biden will seek the US Congress' nod to transfer $10 billion in additional support to Ukraine in a bid to prolong its proxy war against Russia, a source told Sputnik on Wednesday.
It is being reported that the US President is pushing Congress to approve the $10 billion funding to Ukraine as Washington wants to continue its support to the European nation through 2024.
Media outlet Politico mentioned that the American President will be making his appeal to Congress on Thursday.
"I believe this is accurate, and the amount is expected to be north of $10 billion," the source informed the Russian publication.
The latest development comes after a White House spokesperson declined to comment on the matter despite much prodding from a Sputnik correspondent on Wednesday.
Why American Assistance Is Important For Ukraine
American aid is crucial for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, considering the much-hyped so-called "counteroffensive" has failed, as per experts.
Last month, Major General Prabdeep Singh Behl (Retd), an Indian military veteran, who is keenly tracking the events in Ukraine, told Sputnik India that "the so-called counter-offensive has failed."
He further stated that Washington's military assistance to Kiev was nothing but a face-saving effort as NATO nations.
