At least 24 school children were admitted to a hospital in Delhi’s Naraina area after they fainted following an alleged gas leak.
As per initial reports, the students of the municipal school have been admitted into two hospitals – 15 to the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital while nine others have been admitted to the Acharya Bhikshu Hospital.
“A team of doctors from the health department of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) along with officials of the education department, are also present at the hospital to monitor the situation,” an MCD official told reporters.
Meanwhile, two critically ill children are receiving oxygen support to stabilize their condition.
“Children were given oxygen supply. But the solace is that all children are safe. Children have told us that they smelled some gas during their lunchtime after which they fell ill,” Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva told reporters.
