Russian Air Defense Destroys Ukrainian Drone Attempting to Reach Moscow

Earlier on Friday, Russian artillery destroyed a Ukrainian drone control center in the town of Krasnogorovka in the Donetsk People's Republic.

A drone flying toward Moscow was shot down in the Moscow Region, no casualties or damage were reported, the Russian capital's Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Telegram.

"Today, air defense forces near Lyubertsy thwarted another attempt by a drone to fly to Moscow. Preliminarily, there were no casualties or damage. Emergency services are working at the scene of the incident," Sobyanin said.

Air Defense Forces Eliminate Ukrainian UAV Over Belgorod Region

Russian air defense systems also destroyed an aircraft-type UAV over the territory of the Belgorod Region on Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"This morning, at about 07:30 Moscow time [10:00 a.m IST], another attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack by an aircraft-type UAV on objects on the territory of Russia was thwarted," the ministry said in a statement, adding that it was "destroyed by on-duty air defense systems over the territory of the Belgorod Region."

Two Ukrainian Drones Attack Kursk Region

Earlier in the day, Two Ukrainian drones attacked the town of Kurchatov in Russia's Kursk Region, an administrative building and a residential building were damaged, regional governor Roman Starovoit said.
"In the morning, two Ukrainian drones attacked Kurchatov. An administrative building and a residential building were damaged. Experts... are assessing the extent of the damage. Details are being specified," Starovoit said on Telegram.
The Kursk nuclear power plant (NPP) located in Kurchatov was not affected by the attack and continues normal operation, the plant's administration said.
"The radiation level at the Kursk NPP and in the area of its location is natural," the administration added on Telegram.
Later in the day, the governor said that only one drone had attacked the town and reports about two drones were erroneous.
The Kursk NPP was commissioned in 1976. Currently, it consists of three RBMK-1000 reactors, while the construction of two VVER-TOI reactors is in progress.
