An Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft refueled an Egyptian Air Force warplane mid-air during joint combat drills carried out by the militaries of the two countries, the IAF said on Sunday.
"Showcasing the bonds of friendship in the skies over Egypt during Exercise Bright Star, where the Indian Air Force IL-78 air-to-air refueling aircraft refueled aircraft from the Egyptian Air Force," the IAF posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The refueling is an episode in the three-week wargames dubbed Exercise BRIGHT STAR-23, which united the armed forces of multiple nations
According to the IAF, these military exercises are meant to enhance global defense cooperation between Cairo, New Delhi, and other militaries participating in the exercise.
"Touchdown at the Egyptian Air Force base in Cairo. Our home for the next three weeks", the IAF said on social media after its personnel landed in Middle East nation earlier this week.
This is the first occasion when the IAF is taking part in the BRIGHT STAR exercises, which involves the air contingents of nations like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Greece, and the US.
