During the current 4th Asian Para Games, India's para-athletes achieved a remarkable feat: they exceeded the 100-medal mark.
India earned its 100th medal when Dilip Gavit won first prize in the 400 m T47 Men's competition with his outstanding run time of 49.48 seconds, earning him the coveted gold on Saturday.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi complimented the team on their accomplishment and stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that their victories would serve as encouragement to everyone.
After winning the 100th medal, Indian competitors Anita and Narayana Konganapalle continued their golden run, winning silver in the PR3 Mixed Doubles Sculls with a time of 8:50.71. Subsequently, in the Men's Javelin Throw F55, Neeraj Yadav and Tek Chand Mahlawat of India also finished on the podium, taking home gold and silver, respectively.
At the 2018 Jakarta Para Games, India won its most medals ever i.e., 11 gold, 24 silver, and 33 bronze medals.
