India Secures 11 Medals on Day 2 of Asian Para Games

India bagged six gold, six silver and five bronze medals on the first day of Asian Para Games 2023.
Medal rush for India at the ongoing Asian Para Games 2023 in Hangzhou in China as the athletes grabbed two gold, four silver and five bronze medals on Tuesday, the second day of the games.
The first medal for the country was bagged by athlete Manish Kaurav as he won bronze medal in Para Canoe Men’s KL3 event with a timing of 44.605 seconds.
Kazakhstan’s Zhalgas Taikenov with a timing of 43.369 seconds secured the gold medal while Uzbekistan’s Khasan Kuldashev won silver with a timing of 42.258 seconds.
Later, Prachi Yadav who had won silver medal on first day of para games clinched gold medal in Para Canoe Women’s KL2 event.
She finished the race with an impressive timing of 54.962 seconds leaving behind China's Shanshan Wang and Iran's Roya Soltani who won silver and bronze medal respectively.
The third medal for India came in form of silver as Simran Vats secured the second spot in Women’s 100m T12 event. She missed out the gold medal to Indonesia’s Ni Made Arianti Putri by just 0.16 seconds.
The fourth gold medal for India on second day was clinched by Deepthi Jeevanji who secured the first spot in the Women's 400m-T20 event, In the process, she also broke the Asian record as well as the Para Asian Games record.
Jeevanji finished the race with a timing of 56.69 seconds to finish ahead of Thailand’s Orawan Kaising and Japan’s Niina Kanno. Kaising finished the race in 59 seconds grabbing silver medal while Kanno bagged the bronze with a timing of 59.73 seconds.
India’s Gajendra Singh clinched the fifth medal as he won bronze medal in Canoe Men's VL2 event with a timing of 1:01.084 seconds.
The other medals for India were bagged by Ekta Bhyan who won bronze medal in Women’s Club Throw F32/51 event, Ajay Kumar who clinched silver medal in Men’s 400m-T64 event, Sarabjot Singh who grabbed bronze in 10m Air Pistol event, Rudransh Khandelwal who brought silver and Manish Narwal who won bronze in P1 Men’s 10m Air Pistol – SH1, and Ravi Rongali who clutched silver in Men’s Shotput F40.
Apart from this, India have chances of winning medals in badminton as Pramod Bhagat and Manisha Ramadass have advanced into semifinals of Para Badminton Mixed Doubles – SL3, SU5 and Manasi Girishchandra Joshi also advanced to Para Badminton Women’s Singles SL3 semifinals.
This time India has sent the biggest ever consignment comprising 309 athletes and it looks forward to surpass its best ever tally of 72 medals.
