The NCRB noted that an average of 78 killings take place every day, or more than three every hour. However, the number of murder cases came down from 29,272 in 2021 and 29,193 in 2020.
Indian state of Maharashtra recorded the highest number of cases of disputes at 1,130, followed by Tamil Nadu (1,045), Bihar (980), Madhya Pradesh (726) and Uttar Pradesh (710).
Personal vendetta or enmity is second on the list, with as many as 3,761 such cases reported, while the highest number of cases in Bihar (804), Madhya Pradesh (364) and Karnataka (353) topped that list.
Meanwhile, the report showed that in 2022, India witnessed 11,290 suicide cases, which is an increase from a 3.75 percent rise from the 10,881 suicides reported in 2021.
