Abu Dhabi welcomed Russia's President Vladimir Putin with great pomp on Wednesday.
His arrival in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was accompanied by a limousine cavalcade and an air show, during which planes painted the Russian tricolor in the sky.
During the meeting following the warm welcome, Putin praised relations between Russia and the UAE, saying that they have reached an unprecedented high level.

"Today, thanks to your position, our relations have reached an unprecedented high level. You and I are in constant contact, and our colleagues constantly work with each other. And indeed the United Arab Emirates is Russia’s main trading partner in the Arab world," Putin said at a meeting with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The president added that the sides were to discuss the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as well as situation in Ukraine.
Additionally, the Russian president invited the UAE counterpart to attend the BRICS summit in Kazan next year.
