Top Court Returns Imran Khan's Appeal Against Toshakhana Conviction

Pakistan Supreme Court dismisses Imran Khan's Toshakhana case appeal over inadequate documentation, allowing resubmission on January 6. Khan remains jailed on separate corruption charges.

The office of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected Khan's appeal on the grounds that the documents attached were insufficient. It said the appeal could be resubmitted on 6 January.
On Saturday, Khan filed a petition in the Supreme Court to quash the Islamabad High Court (IHC) order in the Toshakhana case as part of his efforts to overturn the verdict in the case and challenge the general elections scheduled for 8 February 2024.
The IHC had rejected the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief's plea seeking stay on the trial court's verdict in the Toshakhana case.
Notably, Imran Khan pleaded not guilty to charges of divulging state secrets related to a secret telegram sent by Pakistan's ambassador in Washington to Islamabad last year. Imran Khan has been in jail since August after he was convicted on corruption charges in a separate case, we inform you.
On 5 August 2023, Khan was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of Rs 100,000 after a judge found him guilty of corruption. Khan was also disqualified from holding any public office for five years.
