The joint military drill "Desert Cyclone 2024" between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) began on Tuesday in Rajasthan state.
The purpose of the two-week exercise is to improve interoperability through the sharing of best practice, with an emphasis on urban operations.
"The joint exercise would focus on counterterrorism operations under the United Nations Mandate," an official stated to the media. The exercise will give field commanders and soldiers a chance to communicate professionally with one another while participating in missions such as collaborative planning, operations, and joint tactical drills.
The aim of the exercise, according to the Ministry of External Affairs, is to open the door for increased cooperation in several defence-related fields. These include joint military exercises, with a focus on naval operations, and the manufacture and development of defence equipment. The relationship also includes exchanging doctrines, strategic data, and technical assistance concerning Intermediate jet trainer programmes.

The ministry emphasised the historical background and stated that the first-ever India-UAE Joint Air Forces exercise was held at the Al-Dhafra base in Abu Dhabi in September 2008. This demonstrates the dedication to enhancing defence capabilities via reciprocal assistance.

The 'Desert Cyclone 2024' drill demonstrates India and the UAE's joint dedication to regional security and stability.
In addition to bolstering defence relations between India and the UAE, the cooperative military engagement is anticipated to advance the general objective of promoting peace and security in the area. The participating military forces are prepared to hone their abilities and share insightful knowledge emphasising urban operations, which can be vital in tackling security issues.
