YouTube India’s Head of Government Affairs and Policy Mira Chatt has been summoned to appear before the NCPCR on January 15 with a list of channels that have published indecent content involving mothers and sons.
NCPCR chief Priyank Kanoongo wrote a letter to Chatt expressing concern about a disturbing trend on YouTube involving "challenge videos".
These videos reportedly portray indecent sexual acts.
"Our team keeps an eye on what is being posted on social media, and we were shocked to see videos showing mother and son taking up new challenges for fun and indulging in indecent acts. This violates the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012," Kanoongo told Sputnik India.
"YouTube has to take up the responsibility for not only allowing to publish such content but also monetizing it. It is sexual exploitation of children," he added.
