This operation comes in response to increased efforts by Pakistani proxy terrorist groups to revive terrorism in the region, especially south of the Pir Panjal ranges of Jammu and Kashmir.
"The objective is to thwart Pakistani designs to revive terrorist activities in the UT, especially in the Rajouri Poonch sector," the sources told Indian media.
The operation is a collaborative effort involving the Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, Special Operations Group, and intelligence agencies.
In preparation for this operation, Army Chief General Manoj Pande and Northern Command have engaged in detailed discussions on countering the terrorist threat.
Drawing parallels with Operation Sarpvinash in 2003, which aimed to eliminate terrorists from the same areas, Operation Sarvashakti is expected to follow a similar trajectory. Army Chief General Manoj Pande highlighted that terrorist activities had almost ceased in the area since 2003, but efforts are now being made by adversaries to reignite tensions.
The plan for Operation Sarvashakti was formulated shortly after Home Minister Amit Shah's security meeting with stakeholders, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Army and intelligence agencies, and police officials from state and central agencies.
