Among other things, the leaders wished each other success in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections, the Kremlin reported.
"Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi expressed interest in further enhancing mutually beneficial bilateral ties and wished each other success in the upcoming presidential elections in Russia and parliamentary elections in India," the statement said.
The leaders also underscored the success achieved in Russia-India cooperation in such areas as trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, energy, transport and logistics, cooperation in the Russian Far East.
"A number of international topics were touched upon, including the situation around Ukraine," the Kremlin's press service said following the conversation.
The last time the Russian and Indian leaders held a phone call was in August last year: Putin and Modi discussed the G-20 summit in New Delhi, BRICS expansion & desire to expand space cooperation.
