Punjab State Chief Bhagwant Mann reportedly received a death threat from Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a dual US-Canadian citizen and a designated terrorist in India, targeting Mann for assassination on Republic Day, 26 January.
Yadav further mentioned that the Punjab police force has implemented a zero-tolerance approach towards gangsters and is taking rigorous action. It is worth noting that Pannun has previously made numerous threats against the Indian establishment and authorities.
Last March, Mann’s daughter, Seerat Kaur, who resides in the US, received threats from another Khalistani terrorist, Amritpal Singh.
Meanwhile, in a video released last month, Pannun made a threat, stating his intention to attack the Indian Parliament. In another video from November, he warned that anyone planning to travel via Air India, would be risking their lives.
In December, while safeguarding Pannun, the US accused India of being purported involved in an alleged plot to assassinate Pannun by Nikhil Gupta and an unnamed Indian government official, codenamed CC-1.
