Justin Trudeau is in Hangover of Appeasement Politics: Experts

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is beholden to a small section of Sikh voters and Sikh members of the Canadian Parliament without whose support his government cannot survive, two international relations experts have said.

On Wednesday, a commission set up by the Trudeau administration to investigate alleged foreign meddling in Canadian elections will now probe purported "India's involvement."

Trudeau Has a History of Interfering in Indian Politics

"Trudeau has already picked up fight with India by interfering in Indian politics by taking sides with agitating farmers during his earlier visit to India; by his inaction to prevent defacing of Indian diplomatic missions or threats against Indian diplomats by elements who promote anti-India separatist ideas," Prof. Chintamani Mahapatra, the founder of the Kalinga Institute of Indo-Pacific Studies (KIIPS) told Sputnik India on Thursday.

More recently, Ottawa made wild and public allegations against India regarding the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. After they failed to provide any evidence of the Indian government's involvement, the Trudeau government has brought up yet another allegation of foreign interference in elections, Prof. Mahapatra explained.

Trudeau Clings to Small Section of Sikh Voters in a Bid to Survive

"The fact remains that without the support of the 25-member New Democratic Party, the Liberal Party led by Trudeau will lose the majority support in the House of Commons of the Canadian Parliament. And Jagmeet Singh, a consistent Khalistani supporter is the leader of the New Democratic Party," Prof. Mahapatra opined.

Binay Kumar Singh, a senior research fellow at the New Delhi-based Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation, reckoned that Trudeau has a myopic vision of politics.

Canadian PM's Style is Reminiscent of INDIA Alliance's Politics

"Justin Trudeau's style of politics is no different from the politics of the INDIA bloc partners in India. Both have a myopic vision and they are in the hangover of appeasement politics," Singh said in a conversation with Sputnik India.

The think tanker underlined that when Trudeau tries to appease the hardcore separatist groups, it is not intended for the welfare of the Sikh community, but is only leading to their demonization and diminishment.

As per Singh, the motive of the commission that is enquiring about India's involvement in elections in Canada is not organic. Because the members of the body already know what they are targeting, as they intend to spoil the Indo-Canadian relations.

"But today's India is not the India that it used to be three decades ago, this India is a New India, that we call Bharat and it would not back down if Canada tried to hurt its pride," he concluded.
