India's ''greater capability, interests and reputation'' necessitates the country to help others in difficult situations, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has observed, according to reports.
The India's EAM made these comments while interacting with the students at the Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai.
"India's greater capability, our own interest and our reputation today warrant that we actually help out in difficult situations," he was quoted as saying.
"We will not be considered a responsible country if bad things are happening around our neighborhood, and we say I have got nothing to do with this," Jaishankar maintained.
Speaking on the 'India Out' campaign in the Maldives, the Indian foreign minister said that neighbors need each other.
"History and geography are very powerful forces. There is no escape from that," he added.
In recent times, India has been involved in numerous incidents where it came to the aid of citizens from various nations. The Indian Navy's INS Sumitra, for instance, has been actively deployed to conduct anti-piracy and maritime security operations in the eastern regions of Somalia and the Gulf of Aden.
