Former Prime Minister Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi has requested to serve her sentence in Adiala jail instead of under house arrest, a report has said.
Bushra has been sentenced to 14 years for helping Khan retain expensive jewelry after paying a nominal price while he was prime minister.
Despite being ordered to serve her time at her husband's Banigala residence where a sub-jail was established to house her, she has reportedly requested that Islamabad High Court assign her to the same jail as her husband.
According to the report, Bushra argued that all citizens are equal in the eyes of the law and thus she too should be lodged in jail like other ordinary prisoners.
"My transfer to Banigala Sub Jail after having me wait for 11 hours after the sentencing is against equal rights," she was quoted as saying in the report.
Khan and his wife were sentenced as part of the Toshakhana ruling last week. They were also slapped with a fine of 787 million rupees ($2.8 million) each in what is being termed as the most swiftly-concluded trial in the history of Pakistan.
