Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India has the third biggest start-up industry in the world on Monday, pointing out that firms generate employment for millions of young people.
Modi made the remarks at the Rozgar Mela (employment fair), during which 100,000 appointment letters were given to newly-inducted recruits to government positions.
He said that there are about 125,000 start-ups in India and many of these are from tier two or tier three cities.
“As these start-ups are creating new job opportunities, the latest budget announced the continuation of the tax rebate for the start-ups,” he added.
Highlighting the commitment of the current government to recruitment in government agencies, Modi said that the campaign to provide job opportunities to young people continues.
“Today, every youth believes that they can cement their job position with hard work and skills”, Modi said, while adding that the government strives to make youth a partner in the development of the nation.
“We have provided 1.5 times more employment opportunities in 10 years compared to the governments before us,” the prime minister stated.
While addressing the newly-inducted recruits, he also claimed that the current government has made the recruitment process transparent while previous governments used corrupt practices.
