India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, expressed India's willingness to share with Bangladesh a wide range of defence manufacturing capabilities, including advanced technologies.
Speaking at the Seminar on Indian Defence Equipment-SIDE 2024 hosted by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday, he suggested enhancing bilateral defence cooperation by setting up joint ventures in defence manufacturing.
In his address, the Indian High Commissioner highlighted the progress made by the Indian defence industry over the past decade, driven by Prime Minister Modi's vision of 'Make in India' and 'Make for the World'. This vision has resulted in significant investment in India's defence manufacturing sector and a significant increase in India's defence exports.

He described SIDE 2024 as an indication of the Indian defence industry's interest in establishing collaborative partnerships with Bangladesh to take defence cooperation between India and Bangladesh to a more advanced stage. This will be done by utilising the $500 million Defence Line of Credit provided by the Government of India to the Government of Bangladesh.

The High Commissioner emphasised India's willingness to share with Bangladesh a comprehensive range of defence manufacturing capabilities, including the most advanced technologies. He also proposed to take forward bilateral defence cooperation by entering into joint ventures in defence production.

Several leading defence manufacturing companies from India, representing both public and private sectors, actively participated in the event. They made presentations and showcased various defence equipment, technologies and platforms proudly labelled 'Made in India'.

The seminar was attended by representatives of Bangladesh Armed Forces, paramilitary and police forces.
