"During a detailed telephone conversation, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Vladimir Putin on his confident victory in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation and expressed sincere wishes for the well-being and prosperity of the Russian people," the statement said.
Both leaders confirmed their commitment for further cooperation between India and Russia in multilateral formats, such as BRICS and SCO.
They also discussed the situation around Ukrane amid continued attempts by the West to draw India away from Russia despite the immense trade boost between the two.
Earlier on Monday, Modi posted a congratulatory message for Putin on his X account.
Putin receieved over 87% votes of the Russian citizens in the presidential elections that took place on March 15-17, securing a 6-year-term as the President of Russia.
