Russian oil accounted for 35% of India's total imports, up sharply from 23% a year earlier, according to energy cargo tracker Vortexa.
Despite discounts and sanctions from the G7 countries, Russia continues to dominate India's oil imports in 2023-24.
Meanwhile, major suppliers such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the US saw their market share fall, according to an ET report.
Iraq's share fell to 20%, Saudi Arabia's to 15%, the UAE's to 6% and the US's to 3.5%.
In terms of supply volumes, Russia supplied 1.57 million barrels per day in FY24, a significant increase from 1 million barrels per day in the previous year.
Conversely, Iraq's supply fell from 0.95 million barrels per day to 0.89 million barrels per day and Saudi Arabia's supply fell from 0.78 million barrels per day to 0.69 million barrels per day.
