The collective West is putting enormous pressure on India to change its foreign policy, which is absolutely unacceptable in international relations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday.
"We know that India is under enormous pressure – brazen and absolutely unacceptable for players in the international arena," Lavrov told a press conference at UN Headquarters in New York.
However, India is handling that very well, the top Russian diplomat added, recalling the Indian Foreign Ministry's reaction to Volodymyr Zelensy's remarks about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Russia.

"The fact that the West makes claims even to such powers as China and India, firstly, means a lack of culture and an inability to engage in diplomacy at all. Secondly, it is a failure of political analysts, because when it comes to subjugating two of the largest Asian powers – well, if wishes were horses. I mean, they chose a disgraceful line of policy towards all nations, but when such demands are made on two giants..." Lavrov maintained.

Modi paid a two-day official visit to Russia on July 8-9 and met with President Vladimir Putin to discuss a wide spectrum of issues, including settling the conflict in Ukraine.
Zelensky criticized the meeting by saying that it was a "devastating blow to peace efforts," after which the Indian Foreign Ministry summoned Ukrainian Ambassador to New Delhi Oleksandr Polishchuk, The Economic Times reported.
