India's S-400 air defense system proved its combat prowess during a recent military drill conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF).
According to news agency ANI, the widely acclaimed missile platform destroyed 80 percent of the warplanes of the adversary while forcing the others to retreat from the skies.
The exercise was carried out to display the S-400's complete integration into the IAF.
It is worth noting that India acquired the S-400 from Russia after it signed a $5.5 billion deal with the Eurasian nation for five batteries of the air defense system.
Indian military experts in the past have said that the S-400 is a game-changer for the Indian Armed Forces.
"Western nations have not been able to deploy any air defense missile system with a comparable range of 300 km or 400 km as of now. Plus, the inherent quality of the S-400 is that it can locate stealth fighter aircraft/bombers like the F-22 Raptor or F-35 being operated by the American Air Force and NATO countries," Group Captain (Retd) Uttam Kumar Devnath told Sputnik India in February this year.
