Russian weapons maker JSC "Kalashnikov Concern" manufactured over 3,000 units of technological equipment and tools in the first six months of 2024 as part of its contract to produce the Kalashnikov AK-203 rifle under a license-production agreement in India, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
The Moscow-headquartered firm further stated that both the weapons and tooling production units were involved in manufacturing these tools that featured stamps, cutting appliances, and much more.
Besides, JSC Kalashnikov Concern manufactured more than 2,000 military gauges to conduct the gun's tests in the field.
"We are actively developing partnerships with our colleagues in India. The tools were manufactured and shipped on time and in full — this is our priority task, which we are addressing under the current contract," Alan Lushnikov, the President of JSC Kalashnikov Concern, said.
Notably, the Indo-Russian joint venture delivered 35,000 Kalashnikov rifles to the Indian Army earlier this month.
"The production has been deployed in India in full compliance with the Make In India and Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) programs," Sergey Chemezov, the chief of the Rosteс State Corporation, said at the time.
To increase localisation, Kalashnikov transported over 4,500 units of tools to Amethi in Uttar Pradesh state, where the Kalashnikov AK-203 rifle production unit is located in India.
