Geoge Soros' Funds Behind 'Social Engineering' Efforts in India: Supreme Court Lawyer

US business tycoon George Soros and his Open Society Foundations have previously been found to fund anti-India campaigns through non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in India.

A Supreme Court lawyer, who made legal submissions for the deportation of Rohingyas from India, has accused Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros of attempts to bring a demographic change in the country.
Rohingyas, who practice Islam as their religion, are being settled in the tribal areas of India's central state of Jharkhand and other parts of the nation, advocate Pankaj Singh, a former 'Expert on Mission' to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), said.

"A significant number of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and Rohingyas participated in the anti-CAA [Citizenship Amendment Act] protests in Delhi's Shaheen Bagh," Singh told Sputnik India. "These demonstrations pitted Hindus and Muslims against each other, resulting in ethnic riots in Delhi in February 2020. Interestingly, these pro-Islamic rallies were openly supported by Soros' Open Society Foundations."

Salil Shetty, who served as the vice president of the Open Society Foundations, publicly backed the anti-government protests in the country, fueling unrest in India, he added.
Such individuals, who want to see Islamic rule established in India, are now aiding and facilitating the settlement of Rohingyas and illegitimate immigrants from Bangladesh into India, particularly in the border states of Jharkhand and Assam, Singh underlined.
Notably, a probe by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Jharkhand, following a 2017 Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) directive, found that illegal immigrants were responsible for demographic shifts in multiple regions of the state.
The influx of illegal immigrants was rampant due to its porous border with neighbouring Bangladesh, and, according to CID, the issue posed high risks because of its potential to create social unrest in Indian society.

Subsequently, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Jharkhand High Court in Ranchi in 2022, in which the petitioner requested the court to compel the state government, ruled by an alliance of parties, including regional outfit Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the Indian National Congress (INC), opposed to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), to take action against illegal settlers.
The topic was mentioned in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech last month.

"At present, infiltration is a big issue for Jharkhand. Two-three days ago, the Jharkhand High Court ordered an investigation by an independent panel. But the JMM government is not ready to accept that there is infiltration," Modi said addressing a BJP rally in Jamshedpur.

Meanwhile, Open Society Foundations show "special interest in the plight of the Rohingya people."
"In 2015, Soros visited camps for internally displaced Rohingya in Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine State, in Myanmar, where he was reminded of the Jewish ghetto in Budapest during World War II. Soros, who lived through the Nazi occupation and fled communism in Hungary, has long been committed to the needs of refugees," the Open Society Foundations writes on its website.
