"The previous US administration did a lot of damage to relations with Russia, so there is a long road to recovery. However, it can be accelerated with the political will of the presidents of both countries - Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump," Peskov said in the program "Moscow, Kremlin, Putin" broadcast on the Telegram channel of Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin.
In addition, Dmitry Peskov also pointed out that the new US administration is rapidly changing the direction of American foreign policy, which in many ways is in line with Russia's approach.
The new US administration has set a course for restoring ties with Russia and resolving the Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible, in contrast to the cabinet of former US President Joe Biden and the leadership of European countries. On 18 February in Riyadh and 27 February in Istanbul, talks were held between representatives of Moscow and Washington, which were aimed at normalising the work of the Russian and US embassies and resuming diplomatic contacts in general.
