MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The meeting between the Russian and US delegations in Saudi Arabia showed that both sides' desire to restore and extend bilateral relations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday.
"As yesterday’s talks showed, the moves toward normalisation in all directions is starting. There is at least readiness, declared readiness to start this process. And not only to solve the Ukrainian crisis, but also to create conditions for restoration and extension of the Russian Federation and US partnership in trade, economic and geopolitical areas," Lavrov said at a Russian State Duma meeting.
However, it is first necessary to "clear out" the legacy of former US President Joe Biden administration, which did everything to destroy even the initial signs of a US-Russia partnership, the minister added.
Russia hopes that conditions for security and strategic stability talks with the United States will be created, the minister said.
