The visit marks a renewed diplomatic push towards strengthening India’s ties with the Global South, including several firsts in India's bilateral relations history.
On July 6–7, Prime Minister Modi will attend the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, followed by a bilateral state visit to Brasília, which will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Brazil's capital in nearly six decades.
Ahead of his departure, PM Modi released a statement reaffirming India's commitment to the BRICS grouping.
'India is committed to BRICS as a vital platform for cooperation among emerging economies. Together, we strive for a more peaceful, equitable, just, democratic and balanced multipolar world order,' he said.
Following his Ghana visit, PM Modi will head to Trinidad and Tobago for a two-day official visit. He is scheduled to meet President Christine Carla Kangaloo and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to discuss key areas of cooperation.
From there, Modi will travel to Argentina, where he will meet with President Javier Milei. This will be the first bilateral visit to Argentina by an Indian Prime Minister in 57 years, signaling a revival of high-level diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
The final leg of Modi's journey will take him to Namibia, where he will meet President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and address a joint session of the Namibian Parliament.
