The visit marks a renewed diplomatic push towards strengthening India’s ties with the Global South, including several firsts in India's bilateral relations history.
On July 6–7, Prime Minister Modi will attend the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, followed by a bilateral state visit to Brasília, which will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Brazil's capital in nearly six decades.
Ahead of his departure, PM Modi released a statement reaffirming India's commitment to the BRICS grouping.
'India is committed to BRICS as a vital platform for cooperation among emerging economies. Together, we strive for a more peaceful, equitable, just, democratic and balanced multipolar world order,' he said.
