Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, echoed Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov’s earlier remarks, noting that substantial technical discussions must take place between lower-level teams before any agreement can be reached between the leaders.
In October, Peskov had emphasised that neither Russian President Vladimir Putin nor President Trump wanted to meet “just for the sake of meeting.” He stressed that proper preparation was essential to ensure any talks would be effective and productive.
