India on Monday successfully flight tested its third-generation Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) in KK Ranges, Ahilya Nagar, Maharashtra, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.

The MPATGM is a derivative of the Nag missile, the nation's primary ATGM.

The Defence Research & Development Laboratory, based in Hyderabad and functioning under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), was the lead agency supervising the test.
"The indigenously developed MPATGM consists of state-of-the-art indigenous technologies like Imaging Infrared (IIR) Homing Seeker, all electric Control Actuation System, Fire Control System, Tandem Warhead, propulsion system and high performance sighting system," the MoD statement read.
These advanced technologies have been developed by DRDO's sister laboratories, namely Research Centre Imarat, Hyderabad, Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory, Chandigarh, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Pune and Instruments Research & Development Establishment, Dehradun.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hailed the development and called it an "important step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat".
