A Russian Trade Delegation attended the Vibrant Gujarat regional conference on January 11 and 12 in Rajkot in Gujarat state.
The delegation included representatives from Russian financial and banking, metallurgy and energy firms involved in infrastructure and industrial projects in Gujarat.
Sobolev said the visit was aimed at diversifying trade and increasing the share of non-commodity and non-energy goods.
He said state-level meetings like Vibrant Gujarat were where "specific industrial and investment projects are formed."
The Rajkot conference and upcoming events in Surat and Vadodara are "important element in strengthening regional cooperation and promoting the interests of Russian business in India,” Sobolev said.
He noted the growing role of small and medium-sized businesses in the economies of both countries and the interest among Russian firms in finding Indian partners in metallurgy, oil refining, machinery, IT, shipbuilding and renewable energy.
