Intelligence agencies of certain foreign governments have been providing support to Daesh terrorists in Afghanistan since the Taliban came to power last August, a spokesperson for the group has told Sputnik.Suhail Shaheen, who heads Taliban’s political office in Doha, also shared that the interim Afghan government has evidence of officials from the previous Ashraf Ghani administration providing support to Daesh in a bit to destabilize the current government.Daesh-Khorasan, the local Daesh affiliate, has stepped up terror activities in the central Asian country in recent months, which prompted foreign governments to pressure Kabul on commitment of not allowing the Afghan soil to be used by terrorists to target other countries. The commitment was made whenTaliban signed the peace deal with the United States in February 2020.Just this week, Daesh claimed responsibility for the deadly attack that targeted upmarket Longan Hotel in Kabul, which left at least five Chinese nationals injured, as per Beijing, and killed Afghan security personnel.Earlier this month, Daesh also owned up an attack on the Pakistani embassy in Kabul which led to a Pakistani guarded posted at the mission sustaining a bullet injury. Islamabad has described the attack as an “assassination” attempt against Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, Islamabad’s Head of Mission in Kabul.Islamabad though said it was verifying whether Daesh was indeed behind the attack.In September, the notoripus terror group claimed responsibility for a blast at the entrance of the Russian embassy in Kabul, which left two Russian staffers dead.Daesh, also known as ISIS/IS/Islamic State, is a terrorist group banned in many countries, including Russia.**Taliban is under UN sanctions over terrorist activities.

18:19 14.12.2022 (Updated: 16:26 16.12.2022) Daesh* has claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks that took place in Afghanistan since last August, when the Taliban** regained power. Terrorists mostly targeted minorities and foreigners in the country.
Intelligence agencies of certain foreign governments have been providing support to Daesh terrorists in Afghanistan since the Taliban came to power last August, a spokesperson for the group has told Sputnik.
Suhail Shaheen, who heads Taliban’s political office in Doha, also shared that the interim Afghan government has evidence of officials from the previous Ashraf Ghani administration providing support to Daesh in a bit to destabilize the current government.
“Our relevant authorities will expose them in future, [as they should],” Shaheen stated, when asked which all countries have been backing the Daesh in Afghanistan.
Daesh-Khorasan, the local Daesh affiliate, has stepped up terror activities in the central Asian country in recent months, which prompted foreign governments to pressure Kabul on commitment of not allowing the Afghan soil to be used by terrorists to target other countries. In spite of a surge in terrorist attacks claimed by Daesh, Shaheen said that the group has little “physical presence” in Afghanistan: “Daesh is hiding in small cells and only being backed by foreign elements,” he stated.
Daesh, also known as ISIS/IS/Islamic State, is a terrorist group banned in many countries, including Russia.
**Taliban is under UN sanctions over terrorist activities.
