In February, Rajasthan's government introduced a bill to penalize those responsible for state exams being leaked. As per the bill, people convicted of leaking the questions from public recruitment examinations will be sentenced to jail for up to 10 years and a fine of INR 100 million ($1,210,589) will be imposed on them.
Congress-led Rajasthan state government on Saturday cancelled the 2nd grade teacher competitive examination 2022 after the examination's question paper was leaked.
The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) 2nd grade teacher competitive examination 2022 question paper was circulated on social media 10 minutes before the start of the exam.
Police in the northern Indian state have initiated a probe into the incident and 50 people have been detained.
According to media reports, police acted on a tip-off and intercepted a bus ferrying candidates, who were supposed to appear for the examination and were carrying the question papers. A team of police officials and a Special Operations Group (SOG) intercepted the vehicle and matched the papers.
Those who have been detained include eight women and out of 50 people detained, 42 were on the bus while eight others were held at a private hotel located in front of Sukher Police Station in Udaipur.
The information about the paper leak was shared by Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) parliamentarian Hanuman Beniwal.
In a series of tweets in Hindi, Beniwal said: “News about a paper leak of the 2nd grade teacher competitive examination conducted by RPSC is being received. It is a big blow to the dreams of thousands of students for which the state government is responsible.”
