The Pakistan Army’s top leadership has resolved to eradicate terrorism “without discrimination” as the country witnesses an uptick of attacks by militant groups, most prominently Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)*.Pakistan’s military leadership convened at the 254th Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, which is the first such meeting since General Asim Munir took charge as Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) last month.The Army statement emphasized the need to “eliminate the threat of terrorism in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Pakistan.”The military conference was convened amid growing concerns in the country owing to the security threat posed by the TTP, which is also known as the Pakistani Taliban.The banned group has increased the frequency of its attacks across the country since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan last August. The stated goal of the TTP is to establish Sharia (Islamic law) across Pakistan.Although the United Nations (UN) has claimed that the TTP's leadership is based in Afghanistan, the Taliban** has repeatedly rejected the claim. Pakistan Army Resolves to Eradicate Terrorism Amid TTP Resurgence
Pakistan’s Army chief General Asim Munir on Thursday also met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the security situation, per reports.
The Pakistan Army’s top leadership has resolved to eradicate terrorism “without discrimination” as the country witnesses an uptick of attacks by militant groups, most prominently Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)*.
Pakistan’s military leadership convened at the 254th Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, which is the first such meeting since General Asim Munir took charge as Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) last month.
A statement from Pakistan’s military media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said that a “comprehensive review” of professional and organizational matters of the Army took place at the conference.
The Army statement emphasized the need to “eliminate the threat of terrorism in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Pakistan.”
The military conference was convened amid growing concerns in the country owing to the security threat posed by the TTP, which is also known as the Pakistani Taliban.
The banned group has increased the frequency of its attacks across the country since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan last August. The stated goal of the TTP is to establish Sharia (Islamic law) across Pakistan.

According to data cited in local media reports, the TTP has been behind 141 attacks in Pakistan in the last three months.
