Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have shown interest in purchasing ethanol from India, said federal Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.Ethanol, a biofuel, is a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels. Since ethanol is derived from sugar and starch-rich agricultural byproducts, which makes it environmentally friendly and cheaper than petrol, a lot of countries, including India and European states, are mixing petrol with ethanol.According to the Indian government, it is mixing 10.17 percent ethanol in petrol and has advanced its target to achieve 20 percent blending by 2030.According to media reports, a total of 3.512 billion liters of ethanol was produced in India in 2022.

Developing countries suffered major losses after petrol prices skyrocketed last year in the wake of Western sanctions against Russia.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have shown interest in purchasing ethanol from India, said federal Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
Ethanol, a
biofuel, is a
cleaner alternative to fossil fuels. Since ethanol is derived from sugar and starch-rich agricultural byproducts, which makes it environmentally friendly and cheaper than petrol, a lot of countries, including India and European states, are mixing petrol with ethanol.
According to the Indian government, it is mixing 10.17 percent ethanol in petrol and has advanced its target to achieve 20 percent blending by 2030.
"I was able to discuss this matter with the PM of Bangladesh and even the Sri Lankan minister. Both are keenly interested in import of ethanol from India for adding ethanol into petrol in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka," Gadkari stated.
According to
media reports, a total of 3.512 billion liters of ethanol was produced in India in 2022.
