Rohit Sharma holds many records to his name, including being the only cricketer to score three 200s in ODIs. This week, he added another to a long list of accolades.
Team India skipper Rohit Sharma made history on Friday by becoming the first Indian captain to score centuries across formats.
The 35-year-old talismanic batter's feat came against Australia on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test match in Maharashtra's Nagpur city.
Rohit was the lone warrior from India on a pitch that helped spin bowlers from ball one, compiling a masterful 120 off 212 balls before his stumps were rattled by Australian captain Pat Cummins by a peach of a delivery.
During his spectacular knock, the veteran Indian batter also smashed 15 boundaries and two powerful sixes.
Notably, this was Rohit's ninth ton in the longest format of the sport and eighth in India. Besides, it was his first Test hundred as captain of the Indian cricket team after he took over the reins of the side from Virat Kohli in 2022.

With his heroics at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium this afternoon, Rohit joined an elite group of captains who have made centuries in all three formats - five-day Tests, the 50-over one-day internationals (ODIs), and the 20-over T20Is.

Before Rohit, Pakistan's Babar Azam, South African Faf du Plessis, and Tillakaratne Dilshan of Sri Lanka were the only skippers to amass tons across formats.
Rohit, the Nagpur-born cricket star, is currently enjoying a return to form in both ODIs and Tests following a prolonged slump that lasted more than a year.
After going without a hundred in more than 50 international innings, Rohit scored his 30th ODI century against New Zealand last month, and on Friday, he produced arguably one of his best Test knocks against the mighty Australians to complete what has been a stunning turnaround for him in recent days.
