BJP-Led Goa and Congress-Ruled Himachal Pradesh to Collaborate on Tourism
18:49 13.02.2023 (Updated: 19:08 13.02.2023) Relations between the BJP and Congress have never been good, with the parties clashing at both federal and regional levels on a range of issues.
State governments of Goa and Himachal Pradesh, led by the BJP and Congress respectively, appear to be coming together on the issue of drawing tourists to their respective states.
In an unusual move, Himachal and Goa will partner in creating and promoting holiday packages for both domestic and international travellers, according to a statement released by Himachal state chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's office on Monday, following his visit to Goa the previous day, where he met with state chief Pramod Sawant.
"A wide range of tourist-specific packages, interlinking both the States will be designed, which will enhance foreign and domestic tourist influx in both states," the release mentioned.
In addition, the two leaders discussed ways to organize workshops highlighting the marine and mountain lifestyles of Goa and Himachal Pradesh, respectively.
What's more, the two states will also ramp up efforts to tackle the spread of drugs and intoxicants among youngsters.
While Himachal Pradesh is known for its scenic valleys, owing to its location in the northern Himalayan hills, Goa is famous for its serene beaches and tropical climate.
