Arguably the best all-rounder in all forms of cricket, India's Ravindra Jadeja has an exemplary record, particularly in Test cricket -- the five-day version of the sport.
Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Friday went past legends like India's Kapil Dev, Pakistan's Imran Khan, and Richard Hadlee of New Zealand by becoming the second quickest to achieve the rare double of 250 wickets and 2,500 runs in Test cricket.
Jadeja's milestone came on Day 1 of the second Test between India and Australia being played at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium. It happened just when the left-arm spinner sent the opposition batter Usman Khwaja back to the pavilion.
The wicket of Khwaja was Jadeja's 250th in red-ball cricket, making him the fourth Indian cricketer after the legendary Anil Kumble, 1983 ODI World Cup winner Kapil Dev and his current national teammate Ravichandran Ashwin to accomplish the dual landmark of 250 wickets and 2,500 runs in Tests.
However, the Saurashtra-born player is the fastest Indian and overall the second quickest to reach the mark, having done so in 62 Test matches.
In the process, he went past Pakistan's legendary cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan, who took 64 matches to get there while Kapil Dev needed 65. Richard Hadlee, Shaun Pollock and Ashwin, on the other hand, touched the figure in 70, 71, and 75 matches, respectively.
England's Ian Botham remains the fastest to the feat, having completed the statistic in 55 Tests.

Jadeja's Career Graph at a Glance

Speaking about Jadeja's overall numbers in Tests, the 34-year-old has 2,593 runs at an impressive average of 37 with a highest score of 175* in the format. Moreover, he has taken 252 wickets in 62 matches at an average of just over 24.

In the last Test match against Australia in Nagpur city, Maharashtra state, Jadeja was named the Player of the Match for his game-defining seven wickets with the ball and a patient knock of 70 with the bat, helping the Indian cricket team to a comprehensive victory over the visitors.
