Clashes have been reported since Tuesday afternoon, as the authorities have been trying to arrest the former Pakistani PM in the Toshkhana state treasury case.
A scuffle was reported between supporters of Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan and police, who circled his residence in Lahore in a bit to arrest the the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party on Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, Khan, who was ousted from power in a no-confidence vote last April, has sent a letter to the Lahore High Court, vowing to appear in court on Saturday, 18 March.

“I hereby undertake to appear before court on 18/2/2023 and Mr Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan is authorized to give undertaking on my behalf as my surety,” says a letter signed by Imran Khan on his party letterhead.

On Tuesday, police clashed with Khan's supporters outside his residence in the Zaman Park area of Lahore city for more than eight hours when they tried to detain him in the Toshkhana case.
According to Dawn newspaper, 30 policemen suffered injuries during the clash; at least 15 PTI supporters have been detained.
Khan has been found guilty by Pakistan’s election commission of unlawfully buying gifts he'd received from foreign dignitaries at artificially low prices. These gifts, according to Pakistani law, are the property of the state.

"Toshakhana" meaning "treasure house" in Persian, as per Pakistani law, politicians can retain official state gifts by paying a certain percentage of their value to the government.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Khan said there was no reason for police to arrest him as he had taken protective bail until Saturday.

"I'm mentally prepared that I'm going to be spending my night in a cell," he said on Tuesday, in a video message, adding "I don't know how many nights, but I'm all prepared for that."
