This is reportedly one of the highest number of new COVID cases recorded in a district in a day this year. Most cases are asymptomatic, officials said.
The COVID scare is once again lurking over India after 38 girl students of the Kasturba Residential School in Lakhimpur Kheri District of India's Uttar Pradesh state tested positive for infection.
It all started on Thursday, when a girl student of Kasturba residential school tested positive for COVID-19. On Sunday, samples of all 92 contact cases of the school were sent for testing out of which 38 among them tested positive, local officials told media.
To curb the spread, the Health Department of the district has transformed the entire campus into a quarantine centre: all the students and staff have been advised a week-long quarantine in a separate wing on the school campus.
From providing all medical resources and daily essentials to making an ambulance available at the school for any emergency, the health department is leaving no stone unturned in providing all care.
On Monday, India recorded over 1,800 new coronavirus cases, taking the active caseload over 10,000-mark, the Health Ministry of India shared. Six more COVID-related deaths have been reported, adding to the total death toll of 530,837.
