Russia's top diplomat Sergey Lavrov on Thursday held bilateral talks with his Indian counterpart, EAM S. Jaishankar, on the sidelines of the SCO foreign ministers' meeting in the Indian state of Goa.The meeting took place in a closed-door format, and prior to its commencement, the ministers greeted each other with the traditional Indian gesture of joining hands and posed for a photograph together. During their interaction, Jaishankar wondered whether his Russian counterpart had an opportunity to get some rest and a suntan, to which Lavrov replied that he had had about an hour and a half to do so. The key topic of the ministerial meeting in Goa will be the issue of SCO expansion: the ministers are expected to approve a draft decision of the SCO leaders' meeting on granting Iran the status of a member state and discuss the application of Belarus for a possible acceleration of its accession to the organisation.
