Indian leader Narendra Modi, who has remained in power since 2014, has repeatedly vowed to transform India from a developing country to a developed nation by 2047.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi pitched for devising a common vision to accomplish his long-cherished dream of having a "developed India by 2047."
The 72-year-old politician made these remarks during a meeting of the Governing Council of the NITI Aayog, the country's apex policy think tank on Saturday.
"At NITIAayog's 8thGCM, PM Narendra Modi stated that when states grow, India grows. He also emphasised the importance of evolving a common vision to achieve a VikasitBharat @2047," NITI Aayog wrote on Twitter.
Modi also asked the states to keep a close watch on their financial decisions, so that they remain financially healthy and can carry out public welfare programs without any fiscal challenge.

"PM Narendra Modi urged States to take financially prudent decisions so as to become fiscally strong and capable of delivering programs that meet the dreams of citizens," the Aayog added.
Among other issues that were discussed in the Aayog's meeting were female empowerment, skill development, health, and infrastructure development, as India is aimed to secure its place among the developed countries by 2047.
The high-profile discussions, however, were held under a shroud of controversy as at least eight state chiefs - all belonging to political parties opposed to PM Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chose to miss the gathering.
Among the prominent names to miss out were some of Modi's harshest critics - Bihar State Chief Nitish Kumar, West Bengal's Mamata Banerjee, Rajasthan's Ashok Gehlot, Kerala's Pinarayi Vijayan, Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal, and Telangana's K Chandrashekar Rao.
