Incessant Rains and Cold Weather Threaten Kashmiri Fruit Growers

Subscribe
Poor weather in Jammu and Kashmir is causing a major concern for fruit growers and traders who say it has left a major impact on this year's produce, especially apples.
Apple production forms a major chunk of Kashmir's economy, but continued rains in April and May have reportedly risked this year's harvest.
Farmers argue that produce will be smaller in size and will develop scab, a type of fungus.
Other than apples, seasonal fruits like strawberries, cherries and even vegetables are bearing the brunt of cold weather which usually ends in Kashmir by March.
