Imran Khan's political outfit, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is feeling the heat of an intense state-authorized crackdown following last month's deadly riots.
With past and present lawmakers leaving the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in hordes, some politicians who have defected from the party, have formed a new group called "Democrats", the entity's leader said on Monday.
The development was confirmed by Murad Raas, a former member of the Punjab provincial assembly, who has emerged as the new entity's leader alongside Hashim Dogar, who previously served as the province's home minister

"One thing is clear that the Democrats will continue acting as an opposition to the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)," Raas was quoted as saying by Pakistani media outlet Dawn.

As per reports, as many 35 ex-MNAs (Members of National Assembly) and MPAs (Members of Provincial Assemblies), including former ministers, have joined the Raas-led Democrats.
However, the group doesn't have a single woman as a member as of now.
Raas added that more such people, who have been disenchanted by the PTI, are likely to join the Democrats in the coming days, with the group currently holding discussions with them. But he didn't divulge the names of any of those politicians.
"We are not forcing anyone. The PTI legislators are coming to us independently," he elaborated.
The move is the latest blow to the beleaguered former premier Khan given that PTI has considerably weakened with the continuous deserations from his party.
After the top-rung, including former federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, PTI Secretary General Asad Umar, and Senior Vice-President Shireen Mazari shunned the party, several other politicians have quit the political outfit in recent weeks.
Among the latest to disassociate themselves from the PTI were Chaudhry Raza Nasrullah Ghumman and Ayesha Iqbal, two former members of Punjab's provincial assembly, on Sunday.
