25 Kids Engaged in Labour, Begging Racket Rescued From Noida

The employment of children below 14 years in all work and of adolescents (14-18 years) in scheduled hazardous occupations and processes is prohibited under Indian law.
As a part of a child labour eradication drive, a total of 25 children engaged in begging or working as labourers in India's Noida city in Uttar Pradesh state have been rescued in a day-long operation, police said on Wednesday.
The children were rescued from different markets and road intersections in Noida, including Sector 76, 62, and 63 A.
The rescue operation was carried out on Tuesday by Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh.
The Noida police have joined hands with the Labour Department, District Probation Office, Childline Noida and the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) to run a special campaign for eradication of child labour and prevention of child beggary from 1 to 30 June.
According to the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Act 2016, those who are found employing children for labour work or begging is a punishable offense with imprisonment ranging from less than six months to two years with a fine of INR 20,000 ($242) to 50,000 ($606).
