A man was arrested by Mumbai Police on Monday on suspicion of sending death threats to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar.The accused - identified as Sagar Barve, who works in a private company in the data feeds and analytics section - was arrested in Pune city.According to the police, Barve had created two fake accounts to post the death threats on Facebook.Mumbai Police initiated a probe into the case after Pawar’s daughter and NCP politician Supriya Sule met Mumbai Police chief Vivek Phansalkar on Friday to demand action.Maharashtra state chief Eknath Shinde also ordered a probe and directed police to step up the security of the NCP chief, while deputy state chief Devendra Fadnavis also sidelined the ideological differences with NCP, saying that “issuing threats to prominent opposition leader won’t be tolerated”.

Mumbai Police on Monday on suspicion of sending death threats to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief
Sharad Pawar.
The accused - identified as Sagar Barve, who works in a private company in the data feeds and analytics section - was arrested in Pune city.
While talking to the media, a Mumbai Police official said: “The Mumbai Crime Branch, which was probing the case, brought Barve to Mumbai. He was presented in court and has been remanded in police custody till Tuesday.”
According to the police, Barve had created two fake accounts to post the death threats on Facebook.
